How to bypass heater core ?

If your taking your car to mechanic to get repaired,then yes you can bypass heater core till you reach the mechanic.Basically its not advisable to by pass heater core.
You will not have any heat at all ! so do this. remove the hoses. on firewall side to heater core. go to any auto parts store and buy a coolant flush kit, then use the right size tube to hook hoses back together and clamp them. recheck coolant and that should be it.

Calipers not compressing,problem is faced by many.You will need to use pliers.
Stick the needle nose pliers down into the end of the piston, and hook it on the two notches on either side of the piston.


  • Twist the pliers clockwise, causing the piston to screw into the housing. Stop twisting when about 1/8 inch of the piston is still sticking out of the caliper housing. you can also buy a tool that fits a 3/8 drive rachet to do this also. go to any auto parts store and tell them your brakes turn in, they should be able to help.

    This is rare problem,but noticed by few Chevy users.The car will not start and has no spark,when the clutch is pushed the CLS /PCM fuse blows out.


    That fuse that kept blowing is a direct wire to the PCM. Below is a picture of one of the connectors at the PCM. I have marked the pin number that you need to check. Make sure you're getting power at that pin number (it's a pink wire). Also below is a picture of a main ground for the circuit that the fuse was blowing. Also is a picture of the connector that that ground wire goes through. It's a black and white wire. Also I see you said you got a new computer. Did you have it or was it flashed for your vehicle ?






    Sounds like pcm or wiring has a short causing fuse to blow. Maybe try another pcm.
    You could also remove the alternator and have it bench tested at autozone or advance auto parts or your local auto parts store. This will tell you if the alternator is blown.This details will help.

    This vibration problem is noticed by many car users.
    Get a friend to open the hood and look at the engine go up or down in the engine compartment when the brakes are firmly applied and switching between reverse and drive. Look for the motor mounts for behavior where tears exist in the rubber.Hard (from age and heat) or broken engine and transmission mounts will cause this type of vibration. Based on many repair experiences with this type of vibration on mostly 4 cylinders I would replace all the mounts, both the engine and transmission, leave the bolts loose that retain the engine in the mounts, then with the motor mounts and transmission mount still loose run the engine and shift back and forth from drive to reverse and then back to neutral, this relieves any stress from misaligned engine mounts and reduces vibration. Also make sure the exhaust isn't touching the frame anywhere, that will also cause vibration to be felt at or near idle, worse when put in gear. If all of the above don't help then you may have a torque converter problem is it is an
    automatic transmission.
    Bad transmission mount will give constant vibrations on the road.very annoying. Often, bad motor mounts allow the engine to rock and move around, causing noise and interference problems with the throttle, transmission and clutch linkages. For example, a thumping noise when the transmission is put into gear or when the vehicle is accelerating is a classic symptom of a bad mount. also when climbing hills it will jump around. from the strain going up hill, that is putting torque on the engine. good-day ! on most vehicles you can start the vehicle, then put foot on brake.Have someone watch engine when putting torque on it. if the mounts are bad. you will see engine move or bad vibration.

    Laptop Power Supply Getting Short?

    Do not try to roll the power supply lead to the laptop all the time. This should be free of knots and twists as in the long run there is every possibility that the internal shielded twin core power wire could make a short and cut off the supply.

    This problem is noticed by many other car users too.The battery drains without driving the car.
    It is a common fault these days are more and more extra fittings are loaded to the cars and when proper precautions are not taken it will end up to fault the system.
    Hence in case of a battery drain overnight try these checks.
    You must check the drain current on your battery after the engine is switched off. The best way to check this out is to connect an ammeter in series to the battery and check. There can be a permissible limit of few milli amps but a large drain can in about 12 hours ( overnight) fully drain the battery no matter how much you have charged it or the system charged it up.
    Now disconnect one by one the circuits to centre on the faulty circuit and then the faulty device. This is easy as the fuse can be pulled out one by one till the ammeter reading drops down.
    Now it is always possible that directly connected circuits like Clocks, audio/video systems, remote control units , brake lamps park lamp circuits can be possible problem areas.
    After the device is identified and battery must be charged up fully and tested overnight.

    How to Troubleshoot common problems in SMPS circuits

    SMPS means Switch mode Power supplies.
    For troubleshooting SMPS related problems,go through this details mentioned below :----

    There was a time when we had only transformers fitted on all the appliances which was sturdy and could stand up to rigourous voltage conditions. The disadvantges was the growing cost of copper & lamination metal, the weight and the universal voltage condition.
    The switch mode power supply came in to replace all the devices with an added advantage od space, cost and range of voltage but brought in higher failures when there was a voltage error.
    So I am listing few tips to look into a SMPS failure and possible safeguards.
    First of all in a SMPS failure if a fuse has blown the chances are there is a fault in the circuit and very rarely the fuse can be replaced unless the component is sorted out.
    So check from the power supply the possible major components to suspect.:
    1. Fuse
    2. The surge protector -- usually a varistor ( metal oxide)
    3. Rectifiers- in bridge circuit.
    4. Chopping oscillators- Intergrated circuit.
    5.Chopping drivers-- MOSFETS ( now incorporating a single IC for OSC and drive ) 
    6. SM ferrite transformer.
    7. Main filter capacitor ( will be seen as leak or short)
    8.Discrete reverse feedback diodes, capacitors or fusible resistors .
    9.Optocoupler which is the feedback trigger.
    10.Short in the secondary circuit can switch off power by current limiting.

    These are the most possible components that one must check on in case of a SMPS failure.
    To prevent a SMPS failure it is important that there are no transcient surges in the line supply, So have a good tight connection. If isolation transformers are used for costly sets it will be ideal to check many failures.
    Try not to leave the sets always connected to mains except if it is necessary to set the clock functions or timer functions.

    2. The second part is to check the electrics, the plugs, the wires, the distribution, the HT coils, the electronics.... the final verdict you must get a good spark.
    The plugs, wires, distribution cups must be good or changed in periodic mileage. the HT coils must deliver good intensity sparks and the ingnition impulse whether from a sensor to an electronic unit to have solid state firing of the coil or the conventional platinum point contacts to the coils.
    As sais earlier a good intensity spark with the correct gap setting. 

    finally the timing should be right, the valves and cylinders in good shape, the battery and starter is good and cranking well.
